Terms and Conditions

The practical rules for using Sarathi and the limits you should understand before relying on a journey suggestion.

1. Agreement

By creating a Sarathi account or using the application, API-backed features or website, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the authenticated service.

You confirm that you are at least 18 years old and able to accept these Terms. The current account flow is not designed to obtain verified parent or guardian consent for a child.

2. What Sarathi provides

Sarathi is an independent public-transport information and journey-planning product focused on Bengaluru. It can combine BMTC bus data, Namma Metro data, walking, selected outstation information and optional third-party map services.

Sarathi is not a transport operator, ticket, guarantee of service, emergency service or official source. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by BMTC, BMRCL, Indian Railways or a government authority unless a later written notice expressly says otherwise.

3. Account and login

  • You must use a WhatsApp number you control and enter your own one-time code.
  • You must not share OTPs, access tokens, refresh tokens or protected app credentials.
  • Your login is bound to an app installation. Short access tokens refresh through a rotating server session.
  • The session is intended to stay active until logout, revocation, account deletion or app removal. Security events or service changes may require a new OTP.
  • You are responsible for keeping your device and WhatsApp account reasonably secure.

4. Travel information and safety

Routes, stops, schedules, fares, walking paths, entrances, accessibility details and disruption information can be missing, delayed, approximate or changed by an operator. “Scheduled,” “Typical,” “Cached” and “Live” labels have different meanings. A live label is shown only when an authorized fresh feed is configured, but even live feeds may be delayed.

Before and during travel:

  • Check official operator notices, station boards, signs, announcements and staff directions.
  • Use safe, lawful walking routes and do not follow a map into a closed, private or unsafe area.
  • Allow additional time for transfers and service disruption.
  • Confirm the vehicle, route direction, destination and fare with posted information.
  • Use emergency services or operator staff for urgent safety issues; Sarathi is not monitored for emergencies.

5. Acceptable use

You may use Sarathi for personal, lawful journey planning. You must not:

  • Automate scraping, bulk downloading or commercial reuse outside an expressly permitted API agreement.
  • Bypass OTP, rate limits, app-integrity controls, request signing, access controls or service quotas.
  • Reverse engineer the service to extract credentials or impersonate another installation or user, except where applicable law creates a non-waivable right.
  • Send harmful code, abusive traffic, false correction reports, unlawful content or another person’s sensitive data.
  • Use route suggestions to facilitate harm, stalking or unlawful surveillance.

We may restrict or revoke sessions and installations that threaten users, data providers or service reliability.

6. Product and data ownership

Sarathi software, branding, interface and original content are protected by applicable intellectual-property rules. Transit datasets, maps, place information and third-party names remain subject to their respective owners, licences and attribution requirements. Displaying an operator name does not imply endorsement.

Feedback may be used to correct and improve the service. Do not send material you have no right to share.

7. Availability and changes

We may change, suspend or withdraw features for maintenance, security, data quality, provider restrictions or legal reasons. We may require an app update or new integrity check. We do not promise uninterrupted availability or coverage of every Bengaluru journey.

8. Disclaimers and liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Sarathi is provided on an “as available” basis without a guarantee that a route, schedule, fare, accessibility detail or arrival will be accurate. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded.

Do not rely on Sarathi as the sole source for a time-critical, medical, accessibility-critical or safety-critical journey. Applicable consumer rights and liabilities remain governed by applicable law.

9. Logout, deletion and suspension

You can log out or permanently delete the server account in Settings. Account deletion removes user and authentication-session records as described in the Privacy Policy. Local saved places remain on the device unless separately cleared.

We may suspend an account, session or installation for suspected abuse, compromised credentials, legal requirements or material violation of these Terms. A short-lived access token may remain usable briefly until it expires unless it is added to the revocation path.

10. Questions and disputes

Use Settings → Send feedback for product or account questions. Mark privacy requests clearly. Do not include OTPs or tokens.

Governing law, dispute venue, registered address and any statutory grievance officer are intentionally omitted until founder or counsel provides approved text. They will not be invented on this page.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes receive a new version and effective date. The application may ask you to accept the updated version before the next authenticated login.
